While working for HRRC lab at Texas A&M University, I was assigned to develop the “Water Runoff GIS Analysis Tool” that would run on top of the “Web Based Decision Support System“. This web-based tool is designed to analyze how land use change impacts water runoff on Galveston Island. The tool helps people to plan ahead in case land-use changes occur. The beauty of this system is that the web-based tool is available to everyone who has access to the internet. The tool was built based on Java servlet programming. So, my strong knowledge and experience with programming in XML, HTML, and Java Server were handy . This was my final assignment at HRRC lab before I joined the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, Duke University.
